As
usual we would like to express our enormous
gratitude to all the
farmers in the
Malelane
area who so generously let us collect fruit and
vegetables for our chimps whenever we need to,
as well as
Fruit &
Veg
City in Nelspruit, from whom we collect every Friday.
Thanks to your
generous donations, our chimps never go hungry
and we are not weighed down by enormous food
bills.
Chimps eat about 5%
of their body weight per day, which translates
into six crates of food each day at Chimp Eden.
Paw paws, which are
highly nutritious, are a large part of their
diet at the moment, and oranges will soon
predominate.
·
We are very
grateful to
Janet
Sculley and
Southern
Sun for supporting our Roots & Shoots
projects and for so generously providing
accommodation for JGI SA staff.
·
Thank you to
Dee Paskowski, for the donation for toothbrushes
and toothpaste for the kids at the JGI SA Roots
& Shoots drop-in centre
·
Our
thanks to PASA for the colouring-in books.
Aimed at primary
school children, they teach awareness about the
plight of chimpanzees.
JGI SA Roots &
Shoots has started distributing these to schools
in Mpumalanga
·
Thanks to
Waltons, for ongoing support since the
opening of the Sanctuary, and more recently, for
donating crayons to be distributed to rural
schools with the PASA colouring-in books.
·
Thank
you to
Bloomberg whose wonderful volunteers are so
ready to lend a cheerful hand – no matter how
dirty the job! – and for the generous donation
of E500.
·
Our thanks go to
Pauline Stuart for all your help finding stock for our brand new
shop at the Sanctuary.
·
Ongoing thanks also go to
Martin de
Kok for the straw, the
Johannesburg Zoo, all the
vets
who give so generously of their time, CITES
officer
Dries Pienaar and
Nelspruit State Vet
Dr
Elize Van Vollenhoven.
·
Our thanks also go to CrocValley
for oranges, Freshpack for
assorted fruit and Poplar Creek
for discounted straw bales.
·
Thank you to Jessica Ney of
JGI SA Chimpanzee Eden for your
superb chimp photographs, some of which we’ve
used in this issue.
·

Many

opportunity to provide our chimps with their

Our grateful thanks

well as to
